You can add up to 3 competitor URLs to any lead in GhostHunter. This makes your outreach more targeted and your reports more compelling.
How to Add Competitors
- Open a lead in GhostHunter
- Find the Competitors section on the lead detail panel
- Enter up to 3 competitor URLs (e.g. the top-ranking businesses in the same area and industry)
- Click Save
What Happens Next
Once competitors are added, Trovn uses them in several ways:
Outreach Reports The Opportunity Report and Takeover Report will include a competitor comparison section showing how the lead's site stacks up against the competitors you specified.
SEO Analyzer Integration When you run an SEO analysis on the lead's domain, the competitor URLs pre-populate the gap analysis — saving you from re-entering them.
Competitor Intel If you run a Competitor Intel scan on the same domain, the competitor URLs are available as suggestions.
Finding the Right Competitors
Not sure which competitors to add? Here's how to find them:
- Google the lead's main service + their city — e.g. "plumber Austin TX" — and note the top 3 results
- Ask the lead — During a call or email, ask "who do you compete with?" Business owners always know
- Check Google Maps — Search the business category + location and see who shows up in the map pack
Tips
- Always use 3 slots — More competitor data = better reports and analysis.
- Pick direct competitors, not aspirational ones — A local bakery should be compared to other local bakeries, not Whole Foods.
- Update competitors as needed — If a lead's market changes (new competitor opens, old one closes), update the URLs to keep your analysis relevant.
