How to Build Your First Client Website

The AI Builder generates complete websites from a text description. No coding required.

Step 1 — Create a Submission

From the Pipeline page, click New Submission or use the public intake form link to have the client fill out their own info.

Tip: If you have a completed intake form, click the Generate Build Prompt button on the submission. Trovn reads the intake data and generates a ready-to-paste builder prompt.

Step 2 — Open the Builder

Click Open Builder on any submission. The builder has a chat panel on the left and a live preview on the right.

Step 3 — Choose a Model

In the builder header, use the model selector to pick your AI model:

  • Claude Haiku — Fastest generation. Good for simple sites and quick iterations.
  • Claude Sonnet — Balanced speed and quality. This is the default and recommended for most builds.
  • Claude Opus — Most powerful. Best for complex sites with detailed requirements.

Step 4 — Choose a Stack

Select the website type from the stack selector in the header. Options include HTML/Tailwind (recommended for most sites), Landing Page, Law Firm, Restaurant, Contractor, and more.

Step 5 — Describe the Site

In the chat, describe what you want. Be specific — include the business name, location, services, colors, and tone.

Example: "Build a modern website for Tampa Bay Plumbing. They offer residential and commercial plumbing, drain cleaning, and emergency services. Use blue and white colors, professional tone."

Attach files: Click the attachment icon to upload up to 5 files per message (JPG, PNG, PDF, DOCX, TXT). Images are analyzed by Claude's vision — great for uploading a client's logo, inspiration screenshots, or brand guidelines.

Scrape a reference site: Click the URL scraper button, paste a competitor or reference site URL, and Claude extracts the content and structure to use as inspiration for the build.

Step 6 — Watch It Build

The AI generates the site in real time. You see the code streaming in the overlay and the preview updates when complete. Generation takes 1–3 minutes depending on the model.

Step 7 — Review and Refine

Check the preview. If you want changes, type them in chat — "make the hero section darker" or "add a contact form" or "change the phone number to 555-1234."

Step 8 — Send to Client

When you're happy with the site, click Send to Client Portal. Add version notes, click Send. The client gets a link and 6-digit code to review it.

Build Credits

Each action costs build credits:

  • Full build — 1 credit
  • Targeted edit — 0.25 credits
  • Add section — 0.5 credits

Your remaining credits show in the builder header as "X/Y builds." See the Billing section for credit allocations per plan.
