The AI Builder uses a section-based architecture. Instead of regenerating the entire site to fix one part, you can target individual sections — hero, services, contact, footer — and edit just that piece.
How Section-Based Editing Works
Every site built with the AI Builder is divided into named sections, each with a unique identifier:
- Hero — The main banner/headline area
- Services — Service offerings grid or list
- About — About the business section
- Testimonials — Client reviews and social proof
- Contact — Contact form, map, and info
- Footer — Bottom navigation and info
- And any custom sections the build created
How to Target a Specific Section
- Open your site in the AI Builder
- Click on the section you want to edit — it highlights with a border
- Type your edit instruction in the chat. Examples:
- "Change the hero headline to 'Austin's Most Trusted Plumber'"
- "Add a phone number to the contact section"
- "Make the services grid 4 columns instead of 3"
- "Change the background color of the testimonials section to dark blue"
- Click Send — the AI edits only that section, leaving everything else untouched
Targeted Edit vs Full Regeneration
| Action | What Changes | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Targeted section edit | Only the selected section | 0.25 build credits |
| Add a new section | Inserts a section, keeps the rest | 0.5 build credits |
| Add a new page | Creates a new page | 0.5 build credits |
| Full regeneration | Rebuilds the entire site from scratch | 1.0 build credits |
Targeted edits are 4x cheaper than a full rebuild. Use them for tweaks — headline changes, color adjustments, content updates, layout modifications within a section.
When to Use Targeted Edits vs Full Rebuild
Use targeted edits when:
- Changing text or copy in one section
- Adjusting colors, fonts, or spacing in one section
- Adding or removing elements within a section (button, image, list item)
- Fixing a specific issue a client flagged
Use full regeneration when:
- The overall design direction needs to change
- You want a completely different layout
- Multiple sections need major changes (it's cheaper to rebuild than to edit 5 sections individually)
Tips
- Click the section first — If you type an edit without clicking a section, the AI may apply it to the wrong place or regenerate more than needed.
- Be specific — "Make the hero better" is vague. "Change the hero background to a gradient from #1a1a2e to #16213e and increase the heading font size to 48px" gets exact results.
- Stack small edits — You can make multiple targeted edits in sequence. Each one only costs 0.25 credits.
